Social Media, Campaigns and the Police

"Almost everyone will make a good first impression, but only a few will make a good lasting impression." – Sonya Parker

How is your team's first impression? Is it lasting? Have you ever analyzed your team's marketing for first impression? Team leaders typically analyze budgets, onboarding systems, return on investments, conversion ratios, and so forth. Most team leaders fail to analyze their team's first impression.

Below are three areas often overlooked when thinking about "first impressions."

Social Media
Here's a fun activity...Take a screenshot of the last 10 public posts for each of your team members. The key here is public. Based on your settings, strangers will only see your public posts. Ask 3-5 people to review the last 10 public posts for each of your team members. Have them compile a list of what they know about each team member based solely on the information in these posts. The feedback may really surprise you and the team members you share the feedback with.

What's the point of the challenge? Many prospects will research one or more of your team members on social media before making the first initial contact. Your team just might be losing an untold amount of leads you never knew you initially had to begin with.

Mailers, Flyers, Emails
Sellers hire real estate experts to market their home. If your mailers, flyers, emails and other forms of marketing are boring and don't stand out, well…guess what that says about how you will likewise market their home? Prospective sellers will notice a marketing piece that stands out and stands above the others. Mass mail campaigns and email drip campaigns are often your team's first impression. Review your mailers and your emails from a first impression perspective.

When the Name Badge Is On…Be Spot On
This includes when you are wearing team logo t-shirts, etc. Recently, I was pulled over for speeding on the way to a listing. When the police officer saw my real estate name badge, he made the following comment: "As a community worker I would expect you to be fully aware of the speed limits in this community." I was duly chastised and that lesson has stayed with me. When the name tag is on, be spot on! Others are always watching and your actions reflect on you as a professional and your team.
