BOULDER, CO, Apr 23, 2024—If you're looking to spruce your home up for spring, you're far from alone. As winter wanes, your home may be in need of a little TLC. Below, Phil Boren, Broker Associate of RE/MAX of Boulder, Inc. offers five easy suggestions to groom your home for the upcoming spring season.
Clean the windows. Your windows likely took a beating this winter, so spend an upcoming weekend afternoon cleaning both the glass and screens for a sparkling view all spring long.
Unclog the gutters. With winter (and possibly fall) debris clogging up your gutters, you could risk backups, clogs and overflows when spring rains begin. "Grab a ladder and a safety spotter and clear out your gutters to avoid potential water damage," suggests Boren.
Power wash the exterior. Now that your windows and gutters are free and clear, take a look at your exterior surfaces, like the siding of your home, patios and walkways, which are often covered in residue after a long winter. "If you have power wash experience, you can rent one and DIY, or hire a professional to make sure you don't accidentally damage your siding," says Boren.
Plant. If you don't already have one, create a plan of action for your spring garden. "Whether you prefer flowers or edible growth, come up with a plan for your beds and get to planting," says Boren.
Update interior accents. With your home’s exterior done, focus on your interior. Swap out heavy winter window coverings for lighter versions, and add a pop of spring color by updating throw pillows, blankets and other accent pieces.
