Savvy shoppers know September is a good time to buy end-of-season clothing and look for closeout prices on other summer gear, such as gas grills, and summer sports and garden equipment. But consumer websites point out lesser known items on which you can spend less and get more this month:Cheap Pizza
Did you know Sept. 28 is National Pepperoni Pizza Day? Look for two-for-one deals and other specials at your favorite pizzeria. (Last year, Pizza Hut offered a medium for $1 with the purchase of a large at regular price.)
Free Museum Tickets
Sept. 21 is Smithsonian’s Museum Day, offering museum lovers free admission to more than 1,500 museums and cultural institutions nationwide - one ticket per email address. Download yours at Smithsonian.com/MuseumDay.
Buy One, Get One Broadway Tickets
If a trip to New York City is on the agenda, theater enthusiasts who go to NYCgo.com can get two tickets for the price of one through Sept. 16.
Older Model iPhones
September is when Apple announces new generations, so look for heavy price drops on older models at Apple stores and other venues.
Bicycles
As the riding season ends, look for good buys at many retailers on the bikes you want for yourself or as holiday gifts.
Cars
According to Autotrader.com, the last day of September is one of the best days of the year to negotiate a deal on a car. TrueCar estimates buyers save roughly 7.9 percent off the price of a car on this date.
Cheap Airfare
While Cheap Flight Day has passed, September is the month to get best prices on air tickets if you plan on heading out of town for Thanksgiving, Christmas and other holidays later this year.
