BOULDER, CO, May 03, 2024—Keeping your home warm and cozy in the winter isn't just about turning up the heat. According to Phil Boren, Broker Associate of RE/MAX of Boulder, Inc., creating a warm, welcoming vibe inside your space is all about the accents. Below are a handful of ways you can add some cozy factor to your home this winter.
Fuzzy, plush rugs. Adding soft rugs to your favorite home hang-out spots is an easy way to make your entire space ripe for cuddling. "Consider a few plush area rugs if you have wood or tile floors," says Boren.
Ambient lighting. Ideally you're already using energy efficient bulbs around your home, but to brighten those early winter evenings, consider adding a few more light sources around your home, from floor or table accent lights, to moveable lanterns and even a festive string or two of globe bulbs.
New hue. Choose a wintry accent color, like red, green or royal purple, and splash it around your space. "From throw pillows and blankets to colored candles and even art, it can be easy—and fun—to add seasonal colors to your home decor strategy," says Boren.
Seasonal touches. From green garlands to pinecones and even a handful of fat red candles, adding seasonal touches around your space can create a winter wonderland for your family and friends to enjoy.
Festive focal points. "Choose an area of your home you'd like your family to enjoy this winter and really deck it out," suggests Boren. The hearth is an excellent option, so decorate that mantle, set up additional seating if needed, then layer on the cozy touches like soft rugs, pillows, blankets, and even a new set or two of slippers by your favorite chair.
